Winning both the Best in Basic Research Award and the Best Project of the Year Award is Sheena S. Gumatay, a fourth-year  student of the . Her thesis was entitled 鈥淐omparative analysis of in vivo- and in vitro-produced dsRNA in silencing efficacy in Penaeus vannamei challenged with WSSV,鈥 under the tutelage of her adviser, .

Awarded for Best in Applied Research was Ervin Luis M. Jayag, a fifth-year  student under the tutelage of Engr. Edsel B. Calica, MSc. Jayag worked on the topic 鈥淭he study of varying co-catalyst loading parameters and design of a photocatalytic reactor for H production using modified TIO2 and visible light.鈥 His co-authors were Ross Christien L. Cruz and Pauline May A. Losaria.
