Co, Fr. Miranda, Philosophy faculty and alumni present in ACU

Prof. Alfredo P. Co, PhD, former Chair of the Department of Philosophy, delivered a keynote address in the recently held conference in the Australian Catholic University. The conference, which bore the theme 鈥淐ivil Society and Human Formation: Philosophy鈥檚 Role in a Renewed Understanding of the Meaning of Education,鈥 was held from July 20-22, 2015. Co鈥檚 keynote speech focused on 鈥淐onfucian Secular Formation and Catholic Education: (Or the Spiritual Education of the Jun Zi.鈥

Leading the paper presenters was Fr. Jesus M. Miranda, Jr., O.P., PhD, Regent of the College of Education and Editor of the Philippiniana Sacra. Fr. Miranda presented the paper 鈥淟iving the Dominican Charism in Education in the Philippines: A Grounded Theory Approach.鈥 He likewise presented the paper 鈥淐onstructivism in the Nontraditional System of Education.鈥漅epresenting the faculty members of the Department of Philosophy were Jecko Bello, who talked on 鈥淧aul Ricoeur鈥檚 Paradigm of Translation: The Role of Philosophy and Education in the Secular Society,鈥 and Milagros Arrevillaga, PhD, who talked about 鈥淏asic Ecclesial Communities (BEC) Involvement and Its Relation to the Spiritual Growth of a Selected Group of Filipino Urban Youth.鈥
