ÌýVILLESPIN, Johannes Lorenzo A.

Dr. Johannes Villespin received his BS in Physical Therapy and Doctor of Medicine from the ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡. He continued his medical training in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ Hospital. He is currently a fellow of the Philippine Academy of Rehabilitation Medicine. His practice encompasses general physiatry and electrodiagnostic studies of neuropathic and neuromuscular diseases. His primary research interests are gait analysis, biomechanics, neuropathic diseases, and pain medicine. He has presented various conferences about his research. His current academic activities include lectures with various health societies and institutions regarding rehabilitation and its impact on disease courses and society functions.

Research Highlights

  • Dr. Villespin’s research focuses on various topics. However, his latest work focuses on gait analysis. The main objective was to compare infrared sensors with motion-capture sensors for gait analysis. The outcome of the study showed that although infrared sensors may be used for gait analysis, certain adjustments, such as the insertion of correctional formulas, are needed to align the data captured. Furthermore, this paves the way of the use of infrared sensors for other motion analysis in the local setting.
