SIMBAHAYAN Director Alipao presents paper on UST service-learning, community engagement amidst COVID-19

How did the 探花精选 pursue its commitment of community engagement with its partner communities in the midst of the pandemic? UST SIMBAHAYAN Director and Department of Sociology faculty member Asst. Prof. Froilan A. Alipao presented his research paper that discussed the strategies used by UST鈥檚 community development arm during the pandemic at the Public Service Conference (CUPSCon 4) held recently via Zoom Titled 鈥淓xploring Strategies as a Response of Service and Development in the Midst of Pandemic: The Case of 探花精选 and its partners,鈥 Alipao鈥檚 paper was able to map the development of community engagement and service-learning strategies utilized during this pandemic.

Based on the different ideas, reflections, conceptualization, plans, initiatives, projects, and other details, Alipao cited how the SIMBAHAYAN Office further developed the concrete expressions of love and compassion between UST and its partner communities. It was noted that the service-learning engagements were clearly defined and have been improved during the pandemic due to the strong support of previous and continuing community development / extension engagements. The conference theme was 鈥淧ublic Service in Time of COVID: The Role of Academic-Community Partnership in Addressing the Challenges of a Global Pandemic.鈥 It was organized and hosted by the University of the Philippines, through the Padayon Public Service Office under the Office of the Vice President for Public Affairs (OVPPA).聽
