UST Hospital becomes first Philippine hospital recognized for Corporate Social Responsibility by Healthcare Asia

The 探花精选 Hospital received the Corporate Social Responsibility of the Year 鈥 Philippines award from HealthcareAsia, on May 23, 2019, in Singapore.

Specifically, the UST Hospital鈥檚 outreach and indigency programs were recognized. Among these programs are surgical missions, including hernia repair, circumcisions, thyroidectomies, mastectomies, prostate surgery, and minor benign soft tissue resections, which have benefited hundreds of patients who otherwise had no access to healthcare.

In his message after the ceremonies, Hospital Chief Executive Officer Rev. Fr. Manuel F. Roux, O.P., MHA said that the programs are in line with the Hospital鈥檚 vision of 鈥減roviding affordable, quality, and holistic healthcare for the marginalized and the poor.鈥

When asked about how the Hospital intends to move forward following the recognition, Fr. Roux gave the commitment that the program will continue, backed up by the desire to achieve the vision and the presence of 鈥渋ndividuals, companies, departments, and hospital staff who are willing to help in the program.鈥

According to the Healthcare Asia website, the awards program 鈥渁ims to honour hospitals and clinics that rise above industry challenges and recognise initiatives that maximised the lucrative opportunities in the healthcare market.鈥 The awards were first conferred in 2018, with the Corporate Social Responsibility of the Year award going to Amina Hospital of the United Arab Emirates, making the UST Hospital the first Philippine awardee for this category.
